Game for the Ages

Posted Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by Nitin Karkhanis

Last Friday night (October 9th), the Two Nashua High Schools locked horns in a game that will be remembered for a very long time. The game featured 15 touchdowns and a final score was reminiscent of a basketball score, not a football game. From the opening whistle it was clear that we were in for a football game. The evening's inclement weather would not be a factor as both teams pushed aside the playing conditions and engaged in a battle superior to any college for professional game.

North fired the opening salvo with a quick touchdown in the opening minutes of the game. After an exchange of turnovers, South struck back and tied the game at 7 - 7. Back and forth it went and at the half South owned a 28 - 21 lead. Shortly into the 3rd quarter, South scored again and seemingly appeared to be pulling away. However, North went on the offensive, literally, as the boys scored 4 times and took the lead 49 - 35. With less than 10 minutes remaining South tied the game at 49 a piece and seemed to be rolling again. However, North kept digging and went ahead 56 - 49. With less than 2 minutes remaining, South took over with good field position. The "Bend but Don't Break Defense" proved their mettle once more and forced a turnover on downs securing a North victory!

Congratulations Players and Coaches on a great victory!
